Terminology

There are some terminologies you need to know which here I try to explain them the best I can.

Attribution

The Process of assigning credit for sales and conversions. You are quantifying which channel got you the sale, i.e. was it a referral site or ad campaign or PPC?

Attribution Model

Set of rules that determines how credit for the sale is assigned.

Conversion

A completed activity that is important to the success of the business

Dimension

A characteristic of data; like location, browser type, etc.

Event

Type of hit used to track user interaction with content

Goals

A configuration that allows you to track valuable actions on your site.

Hit

An interaction that results in data being sent to Google Analytics.

Metric

A quantitative measurement of your data. Sums or ratio.

Page View

An instance of a page loaded on a browser. A user can contribute multiple page views.

Segment

Segments are a subset of sessions.  Filtered data.

Sessions

A period of time a user is active on your website.

Source

The origination of your traffic

Medium

The general category of the source.
